Couple Exchanges Vows In New Sweden Rites

NEW SWEDEN -- The Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church was the scene of the candlelight wedding Saturday when Miss Patricia Marion Buck of New Sweden became the bride of Alvin Plummer Trask of Bradford.

The bride is the daughter Mrs. Lew Doody of Caribou, the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Burke C. Trask,Sr. of Bradford.

The Rev. Theodore Carlson performed the double-ring ceremony. A vase of red carnations adorned the main altar, while candelabra and baskets of white lilacs decorated each side of the communion rail.

Mrs. Hope Espling of Caribou, church organist, played. The soloist was Ronald Dow of Perham.

Escorted to the altar by her stepfather, the bride wore a floor length gown of pure silk featuring a Sabrina neckline embroidered with pearls and high pointed sleeves. The waist was accented by a bow in front. The full skirt panel swept into a chapel train. The elbow length veil of silk illusion was attached to a headpiece adorned with a silk rose and seed pearls. She carried a rose corsage on a white Bible, which was a gift of the bridegroom.

Miss Linda Doody of Caribou, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a mint green silk organza gown over taffeta fashioned with a full skirt, scoop neckline trimmed with mint green satin, bouffant sleeves with satin bow, and satin bow belt. Her bouffant headpiece was green net with a flower crown. She carried a colonial bouquet of yellow carnations.

Bridesmaids were Miss Helen Colby of Spruce Head Island, classmate and sorority sister of the bride: Mrs. Wesley M. Smith of Southington, Conn.; and Mrs. Brian Ketchum of Bridgewater.

Their gowns were styled identical to that of the maid of honor's. Miss Colby wore pink, Mrs. Smith, lavender, and Mrs. Ketchum, yellow.

Best man was Bourke C. Trask, Jr., of Brewer, brother of the bridegroom. Ushers were Richard Southard of Bangor, cousin of the bridegroom; Kenneth Libby of Bradford. fraternity brother of the bridegroom; and Paul Pray of Bangor.

Miss Peggy Hemberg of New Sweden was the flower girl. She was dressed in a mint green dress styled identical to that of the maid of honor's. Her headpiece was identical, also, she carried a basket decorated with mint green and white silk and filled with apple blossoms.

Dale Trask of Brewer, nephew of the bridegroom, was the ring bearer. He carried the rings on a satin pillow embroidered with lace made by Mrs. A. N. McQuarrie of Madawaska.

A reception following the ceremony was held in the church vestry and was catered by the ladies of the church. The vestry was decorated with seasonal flowers.

The guest book was circulated by Miss Bonnie Plissey of Bangor. The gift table was presided over by Miss Linda Bull of Boston, Miss Sally Fowler of Rockland and Miss Lilly Perry of Bangor.

Mrs. Emma Morse of Bangor, housemother of the bride, served coffee. Miss Nancy Nicholson of Millinocket dipped punch. Assisting in the serving were Miss Mavis Churchill of Washburn, Miss Ruth Sperry of Perham, Miss Phyllis Chase of Milo, and Miss Janis Sprague of Swan's Island. All are sorority sister of the bride.

Miss Nancy Hemberg of New Sweden and Miss Beth Faye Larrabee of Washburn served individually wrapped pieces of groom's cake.

The bride's table was centered with red peonies. Two goblets with the Greek letters of the bride-groom's fraternity and of the bride's sorority were on each side of the bouquet. Mrs. Henry Anderson acted as hostess to the bride's table.

The couple left by car for a wedding trip to a resort in the Catskill Mountains in New York. The bride wore a three piece blue silk and wool summer suit with white accessories and a rose corsage.

The bride graduated from Washburn High School. On June 10 she was graduated from Husson College, Bangor, with Magna Cum Laude honors, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education. She is a member of Pi Rho Zeta Sorority.

The bridegroom graduated from Higgins Classical Institute, Charleston. He also was graduated from Husson College June 10, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in business education. He was chosen outstanding man in the graduating class at commencement exercises. He is a member of Kappa Delta Phi Fraternity.

The bride was feted at bridal showers in New Sweden, Bradford and Bangor.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Trask have accepted teaching Positions at Kennebunk High School for the coming year.
