The church was decorated with beauty baskets of white gladoli and blue snapdragons. Smaller vases of white and blue, and pots of ferns adorned the altar.
The bride, escorted by her father, was attired in a floor length gown of Chantilly lace and silk organza. Her fingertip veil of bridal illusion was attached to a crown of crystals and pearls. She carried a bouquet of white orchids.
Mrs. Lendal Hersey of Old Bridge, N. J., sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a peach colored dress of taffeta with matching accessories. Her bouquet was peach colored roses attached to a white lace fan.
The bridemaids were Mrs. Rena Shaw and Miss Phyllis Amero of Presque Isle, Miss Audrey Church of Shirley, and Mrs. Gail Thompson of Caribou. They wore street length dresses of silk organza over taffeta in pastel shades with matching accessories. Their flowers were attached to white lace fans.
The flower girl was Miss Cavelle Hersey, of Old Bridge, N. J., niece of the bride. She wore a pink floor length gown of taffeta lace and silk organza. Her headpiece was a rhinestone tiara from which fell her tulle veil. She. carried a bouquet of pink Sweetheart roses attached to a small lace fan.
The ring bearer was Timothy McLean of Ashland, cousin of the bride.
The best man was Ray Harris of Washburn, brother-in-law of the bridegroom. The church ushers were William F. Estes and Aubrey E. Estes of Caribou and Old Bridge. N. J., brother of the bride, Ira Munn of Presque Isle, uncle of the bridegroom, Vaughn Brewer of Caribou, Lendal Hersey of Old Bridge, N. J., brother-in-law of the bride, and Peter Polvers of Presque Isle.
The reception was held following the ceremony at the Odd Fellows Hall on Collins Street. The hall was decorated with white streamers and white bells. The bride's table was adorned with roses.
The bride's cake was three tiered with a tiny church on the top. After the first traditional slice was cut by the bride and the bridegroom, Mrs. Havelock Knox, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. David McPherson, cousin of the bride, cut the cake. Serving were eight to 11-year-old girls, Candy and Betty Davidson, Janet McPherson, Debora McLean and Sharon Harris. Hostess was Mrs. Lela Finnemore. Receiving gifts at the door were Miss Helen Snowman of Caribou, and Miss Susan Shaw of Presque Isle. Presiding at the gift table were Miss Jane Brewer of Ashland, Mrs. Ray aHrris[*] of Washburn, sister of the bride-groom, and Mrs. Betty Fowler of Caribou, cousin of the bride. The guest book was presided over by Mrs. Malcolm McLean of Ashland. Serving punch was Miss Marilyn Savard of Presque Isle.
For their wedding trip the bride wore a mint green dress with a white orchid corsage. Her jewelry was a hand carved ivory brooch with matching earrings, a gift of the bridegroom.
The bride is a graduate of Caribou High School and Boston University School of Fine and Applied Arts with a bachelor of music degree. She is employed by School Administrative District 1 of Presque Isle as instrumental music director.
The bridegroom attended Washburn Schools and Aroostook School of Commerce in Presque Isle. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, and is employed by the Maine Public Service Company in Caribou.
After July 29 the couple will be at home at 6 Loretta Lane, Washburn.
