Clark - Parker Nuptials Held In Washburn Church

WASHBURN - Miss Lois Marie Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merton Parker of Woodland, became the bride of Jay Irvine Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Clark of Washburn, Friday evening at the Washburn Pentecostal Church.

The Rev. Edward Skane, pastor of the church, officiated at the double ring ceremony. The altar was decorated with multi-colored gladioli and candelabra.

Mrs. Margaret Harris, aunt of the bride, played the wedding march and accompanied Mrs. Lois Burden, aunt of the bride, who sang "I Love You Truly" and Mrs. Edward Skane, who sang "Whither Thou Goest."

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a ballerina - length gown of chanilly lace over nylon tulle, fashioned with a sabrina neckline trimmed with seed pearls and three - quarter length sleeves. Her shoulder-length veil of bridal illusion was trimmed with applique roses attached to a crown of sequins and pearls.

She wore cultured pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. She carried a white lace covered missal which held sweetheart red roses and white poms.

The maid of honor, Miss Alice Harris, cousin of the bride, wore an aqua chiffon over taffeta gown in street - length with V shaped neckline. She wore a matching headband of veil and carried a colonial bouquet of roses.

The bridesmaids, Miss Sharon Parker sister of the bride, and Miss Penny Burden, cousin of the bride, wore pink and lavender gowns fashioned identically. The gowns were in street length chiffon over taffeta with lace jackets. They wore matching headbands and veils and carried colonial bouquets of roses.

Best man was Robert Sprague of Connecticut. The ushers were Jim Clark, brother of the bridegroom and Ronald Sperrey.

The flower girl, Miss Faith Parker, sister of the bride, wore a dress of mint green nylon over taffeta with matching hat of net. She carried a basket of flower petals.

The ring bearer was Michael Drost, cousin of the bride.

Following the ceremony, reception was held at the Crouseville Mission Building which was decorated with white and green streamers, Wedding bells, and arrangements of fall flowers. The guest book was circulated by Mrs. Phyllis Allen. Mrs. Gaynel Tilley, aunt of the bride. Served by Mrs. Grace Parker, aunt of the bride, after the first slice had been cut by the bridal couple. Assisting in serving were Mrs. Margaret Harris, Mrs. Lois Burden, Mrs. Anna Maynard, Mrs. Pearl Drost, Mrs. Ruth Seward, aunts of the bride, Miss Christine Dickinson, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Norma Gregg.

For a wedding trip by automobile to the White Mountains New Hampshire, the bride chose a brown and rust silk dress with matching accessories and a corsage of rust poms.

The bride is a graduate of Washburn High School in 1960.

The bridegroom graduated from Washburn High School and from Boston University in 1962 with a B. A. degree in biology. He will further his education at the University of Maine beginning this fall.

The couple will reside after September 17 [1962] at Orono.
