Joy Knox Becomes Bride In Mapleton Church Rite

WASHBURN -- In a double-ring ceremony Saturday afternoon at the State Road Advent Christian Church in Mapleton, Miss Joy Ellen Knox daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Wendell P. Knox. became the bride of Robert John Roehrig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Roehrig of Aurora, Ill.

The bride's father, assisted the Rev. Ralph Jordan, of the church, officiated at the ceremony. The altar was decorated with candles and at the windows were floral arrangements made by the bridegroom's mother.

Miss Lorraine Nickolson of Suffield, Conn., a college classmate of the bride, played the traditional wedding music and accompanied Timothy Knox, brother of the bride, who sang "O Promise Me" and "Entreat Me Not To Leave Thee."

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina-length gown of lace over satin which she made. The pointed bodice was fashioned with a sabrina neckline and long pointed sleeves. Her elbow-length veil of bridal illusion was accented by a pearl tiara. She carried a cascade of Talsman roses.

The maid of honor, Miss Helen Crouse of Crouseville, classmate of the bride, wore a mint green ballerina-length gown of peau de soie accented by a sabrina neckline and pointed bodice. The short sleeves were accented by bows.

She wore a white net cap and carried a colonial bouquet of fall flowers. The bridesmaid, Miss Lois Knox of Washburn, sister of the bride, wore a gold gown similar to the maid of honor's with a similar headdress. She carried a colonial bouquet of fall flowers.

Best man was Gerald Roehrig of Aurora, Ill., cousin of the bridegroom. Also attending the bridegroom was Carl Kuhn of Burbank, Calif.

Ushers were Kenneth Knox, brother of the bride, and Donald Spinks, cousin of the bride,

from East Longmeadow, Mass.

Following the ceremony, a reception, given by the Mission Society of the Church, was held at the church basement. The refreshment table was decorated with gold dahlias and candles.

The guest book was circulated by Miss Margaret Spinks, of East Longmeadow, Mass., cousin of the bride. Presiding at the gift table was Miss Vicky Kuhn of Burbank, Calif.

The wedding cake, made by Mrs. Leo Flewelling of Crouseville, was served by Mrs. Ralph Roehrig of Aurora, Ill., aunt of the bridegroom, after the traditional first slice had been cut by the couple. Assisting in serving were Miss Elaine Munn of Mapleton and Miss Janice Clark of

Crouseville, classmate of the bride. Dipping punch was Miss Phoebe Bourdeau of Ashland, classmate of the bride.

The couple, after taking a trip through the southern and western states, will be at home Rt. 95, Church Road, Aurora, Illinois.

For her traveling ensemble the bride chose an olive green and plaid two-piece suit with matching accessories.

The bride is a graduate of Washburn High School, class of 1959, and is a senior at Aurora College in Illinois.

The bride graduated from Aurora High School and Valparaiso Technical Institute in Valparaiso, Indiana. He is chief engineer at station WGBS in Geneva, Ill.
