PRESQUE ISLE -- Miss Marilyn Jeanne Gallupe of Meriden, Conn., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Gallupe, Presque Isle, and Donald James Sperry, Meriden, Conn., son of Mr. and Mrs. James Sperry of Plantsville, Conn., were married in a candlelight ceremony April 20 at 8 p.m. by the Rev. Ernest Drost of
Boyertown. Pa., uncle of the bridegroom. He was assisted by the Rev. Bernard Patton, pastor of Full Gospel Assembly in Presque Isle, where the double-ring ceremony was performed.
A solo, "I Love You Truly." was sung by the bridegroom's mother.
Escorted by her father, the bride was attired in a gown of pure silk organza with Chantilly lace. Her hat was imported. Chantilly lace with a bouffant French illusion, four-tier veil, elbow length. Her only jewelry was a cultured pearl necklace, gift of the bridegroom. She carried a colonial bouquet of white and apricot poms.
Miss Myrtle Jordan of Buffalo, N. Y., maid of honor, was attired in an apricot chiffon dress with lace bodice, and carried a colonial bouquet of green and white poms. She wore a headpiece of white poms.
Mrs. George Akeley and Miss Rebecca Gallupe, sisters of the bride, were the other attendants.
Gentlemen of the bridal party were Dwight Nickerson of Enfield, Conn., cousin of bridegroom best man; Robert Sperry of
Plantsville, Conn., brother of bridegroom, usher; Paul Drost of Boyertown. Pa., cousin of bridegroom, junior usher, and Master Dwight Valley Jr., ringbearer, the bride's nephew.
The Misses Cheryl Valley of Meriden, Conn., and Sherry
Churchill of Old Orchard, nieces of the bride, were flower girls. They were attired in nile green dresses of organza over taffeta and carried baskets of rose petals.
Assisting at the reception, held at the United Baptist Church and the Hall, were Mrs. Duane Valley, Mrs. Dwight Valley and Mrs. Robert Churchiil, all sisters of the bride; Miss Joanne Doak, Miss Nellie Knox, Miss Ella Grindle. Miss Linda Saucicr, and Miss Jeanette Gregg of Washburn, aunt of the bridegroom.
The wedding cake, made by Mrs. Frank Mahan Jr., cousin of the bride, was cut and served by Mrs. John Doak, the bride's aunt. The couple is at home in Meriden, Conn.
The bride graduated from Presque Isle High School and is employed by Ross-Phipps Insurance Company, Meriden.
The bridegroom graduated from Meriden High School and served four years in the U. S. Navy. He is employed in Meriden, Conn.
