Sandra E. Gough Marries Paul Sperrey of Washburn

WASHBURN--A double ring, candlelight wedding at the Washburn Pentecostal Church, Saturday at 7 p.m., united Miss Sandra Eileen Gough and Paul Dean Sperrey.

The couple are the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Gough of Mapleton and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Atwood Sperrey of Washburn.

The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Kenneth R. Luff, of Warren, R. I. The Rev. Lloyd Sparks offered a prayer.

Margaret Harris was organist and Merle Deeves sang "I Love You Truly" and "Together." Baskets of white mums decorated the altar.

The bride wore a bouffant gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over hoops. Lace, formed the bodice with Sabrina neckline and long, pointed sleeves, and was repeated in a plenum and medallions on the skirt. A beaded crown held her fingertip veil. Her flowers were white carnations and red roses on white Bible.

Karen DeMerchant, as honor attendant, wore blue brocaded satin with crown and veil to match and carried an old fashioned bouquet of shaded pink carnations.

Pink was repeated in the brocaded satin gowns of the bridesmaids, Donna Mullen and Gala Parks, whose old fashioned bouquets were of blue and white carnations.

Llewelyn Sperrey was best man for his brother. Ushers were Dale Campbell, Loren Sperrey and Beverly Gough, brother of the bride.

Candice Carson, dressed in pink brocaded satin and carrying a basket of flower petals, was flower girl.

Graydon Brailey was ring bearer.

The reception was held at Mapleton Community Hall which was decorated with pink and white streamers and white bells. The receiving line was formed before an arbor of fir boughs. Assisting with the service were Mrs. Ruby Barbour who served the cake; Mrs. Rose DeMerchant, dipping punch; Mrs. Evelyn Buck, Mrs. Marlene McLaughlin, Mrs. Audry Whiggins, Mrs. Anita Chasse and Mrs. Marilyn Allen. At the gift table were Mrs. Greta MacPherson, Mrs. Doriene McLaughlin, Mrs. Janet Brailey and Mrs. Caroline Gough.

Mrs. Norma Sperrey circulated the guest book.

The bride is a graduate of Mapleton High School and is employed by the Maine Potato Growers at Presque Isle.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Washburn High School and is employed by his father on the Sperrey farm.

The couple planned a wedding trip through New England. The bride wore for traveling a red wool dress with ermine headband with veil. They are to be at home at Presque Isle.
