Barbara Zwicker Marries Rodney Corey Of Washburn

PRESQUE ISLE--Miss Barbara Jane Zwicker, daughter of Mrs. G. Byron Zwicker of Presque Isle, became the bride of Rodney Earl Corey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Corey of Washburn, Saturday in a candlelight service at the United Baptist Church at Presque Isle. The Rev. R. Quentin Johnson officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The church was decorated with candelabra, candles on window sills, and, aisle baskets filled with pine and red and white poinsettias. Each family pew was marked with a small bouquet of lily of the valley and satin ribbon.

Mrs. John Sluka, organist, played several selections of wedding music prior to the ceremony. Just preceding the traditional wedding march she played "Oh,' Promise Me". Miss Esther Welts sang "I Love You Truly" and Wilmot Jordan sang "Because."

The bride, given in marriage by her uncle, Ralph Wilcox wore a street length dress of white velvet. The bodice was styled with a batteau neckline and long pointed sleeves. Her shoulder length white net veil was attached to a cluster of white satin flowers. She carried a white Bible with red and white Sweetheart roses tied with white satin streamers and lovers' knots with adiatum lily of the valley and fern. She wore a pendant with a single pearl.

Mrs. Lawrence Cannon, of Washburn was the matron of honor. She wore a street length dress of mystic blue brocade, princess - style with rounded neckline and three - quarter length sleeves. Her headband was of the same material as the dress. Her corsage was red and white roses with tulle tied with white satin ribbon. She is sister of the bridegroom. Miss Monica Dial, cousin of the bride, as bridesmaid, was dressed in the same fashion as the matron of honor. Both wore pearl necklaces. She, also, wore a corsage of red and white Sweetheart roses with tulle tied with white satin ribbon.

Lawrence Cannon, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, was best man. Ivan Corey, brother of the bridegroom, was an attendant of the bridesmaid. Ushers were Philip Zwicker, David Libby, Lewellyn Murray and Andrew Adams.

Miss Valerie Dial, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a street length dress of mystic blue brocade with a headband of white flowers, and carried a white basket decked with white satin ribbon, filled with rose petals and leaves which she scattered before the bride.

Daniel Dial was ring bearer. He also is a cousin to the bride.

The reception was held in the vestry of the church which was decorated by Mrs. Quentin Johnson with clusters of white bells above the buffet table and a trellis.

The bridal cake was made the bridegroom's sister-in-law Mrs. Danny Corey of Washburn

Miss Laurie Sawyer and Mrs. Norma Raffensberger dipped punch. The four - tiered bridal cake was cut by Mrs. Keith Thompson and served by Miss Margaret Johnson, Miss Gay White, Miss Carol Brown, Miss Deborah Coffin, Miss Rebecca Dicker, and Miss Cynthia Dial, who were dressed alike in exotic blue.

Mrs. Clayton Coffin was charge of the guest book. The gift table was in charge of Mrs. David Dial, aunt of the bride. Helping her were Miss Elsie Johnson, Mrs. Russell Allen and Mrs. Quentin Johnson.

Those helping with refreshments were Mrs. Donald Giberson, Mrs. Vera Beckwith, Mrs. Verna Monahan, Mrs. Inez Wakem, Mrs. Clarice Murphy, Mrs. Etta Coffin, Mrs. Vern Hall, Mrs. Eleanor Thompson, Mrs. Jennie Woodman, Mr. Erla Kierstead. Floral arrangements were fashioned by Mrs. Waldo Libby.

The bride attended Presque Isle High School and is completing a correspondence course from American School, Chicago, Ill. She is employed at the Aroostook Shoe Company.

The bridegroom is a senior at Washburn High School and is employed at the Washburn Oil Company.

The bride wore a double knit blue and white suit as her going away outfit, which she complemented with a corsage of red, Sweetheart roses.

The couple will reside at Washburn.
