PERHAM - The Perham First Baptist Church was the scene of a candlelight wedding Saturday evening April 18 at 7:30 p.m. when Miss Dawn Mae Earle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frazier Earle of Washburn became the bride of Sanford Morris Dudley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Dudley of Presque Isle.
The Rev. Carlton Cockey, pastor officiated at the double-ring ceremony before the altar, which was decorated with baskets of gladioli and snapdragons. Mrs. Emma Dow of Perham played the traditional wedding music and accompanied Miss Nancy McIntire of Perham who sang "I Love You Truly" and "The Lord's Prayer."
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a floor length gown of Chantilly lace over taffeta which she styled. The hoop skirt was accented by pleats and featured a chapel train. The fitted bodice of taffeta piping enhanced by a taffeta bow was fashioned with a scoop neckline and long pointed sleeves trimmed with taffeta. Her finger-tip veil of bridal illusion was attached to a crown of seed pearls and rhinestones. Her jewelry was a single strand of pearls. She carried a white Bible, a gift from her parents, draped with sweetheart roses and white satin streamers.
The matron of honor, Mrs. Norma Sperrey, of Washburn, sister of the bride, wore an orchid brocade taffeta gown with scoop neckline, cap sleeves and a fitted bodice, accented by a tiny bow. She wore a matching circular headpiece of tulle and carried a colonial bouquet of white carnations and yellow mums.
The bridal attendants were Ms. Anita Smith of Washburn, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Iris Gibson of Presque Isle, sister of the bridegroom. They wore yellow taffeta gowns and headpieces styled like the matron of honor's. They carried colonial bouquets of white carnations and lavender mums. The attendant's gowns were led by the bride's mother.
The best man was Albert Gibson of Presque Isle, brother-in-law of the bridegroom. Ushering were Ronald Sperrey, of Washburn, brother-in-law of the bride and Donald McPherson of Mapleton, cousin of the bridegroom.
The flower girl was Miss Donna Smith, niece of the bride. She wore an orchid brocade dress with lace trimmed collar and sleeves accented by a bow in the back.
Following the ceremony a reception was held in vestry of the church.
The wedding cake made by Mrs. Vespa Johnson of cousin of the bride, was cut by Mrs. Lillian Harris of Perham and served by the Misses Sharon and Cindy Irving and Miss Karen Gibson after the traditional first slice had been cut by the couple. Circulating the guest book was Miss Carol Blackstone of Perham. Presiding at the gift table was Miss Phyllis Russell and Miss Nancy Bull, all of Washburn, classmates of the bride. At the refreshment table were Mrs. Millie Blackstone of Perham and Mrs. Maddie Irving of Washburn. Dipping punch was Mrs. Opal Everett of Washburn, cousin of the bride.
The couple left by car for a trip to southern Maine and the White Mountains. For her traveling ensemble the bride chose an aqua knit suit with beige accessories. She accented her ensemble with corsage of pink sweetheart roses.
The bride is a graduate of Washburn High School class of 1961, and a graduate of Plus School of Business in Portland in 1963. She is employed as an IBM operator at Loring Air Force Base.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Mapleton High School class of 1961 and is employed at the Coca Cola Bottling Co. in Presque Isle.
The couple will make their home in Presque Isle.
