Miss Jeanne Sandra Lord Wed in Church Ceremony

The Calvary Baptist Church in Brewer was the scene of a charming candlelight wedding Saturday et 1:30 p.m., when Miss Jeanne Sandra Lord, daughter of Mrs. Hattie Lord, 191 Wilson Street, Brewer, and Eugene Lord of Machias, became the bride of Victor Laurence Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilson, 15 Prospect Street, Brewer.

Baskets of snapdragons and gladioli and candelabra with tall cathedral tapers, decorated the chancell for the ceremony. The pastor, the Rev. Philip C. Hughey Jr. officiated reading the double-ring service.

Wedding music including the traditional marches was played by Edward Healey, church organist, who also accompanied the soloist, Ted Fish of Bangor, who sang "Because" and "The Lord's Prayer", and Mrs. Carol White of Caribou, who sang "At Dawning" and "A Wedding Prayer", which was written by Mrs. Rosanne Clayton, sister of the bridegroom.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attractive in a floor length gown of imported Chantilly lace and tulle, fashioned with a fitted bodice, a sabrina neckline embroidered with sequins, and long pointed sleeves. Her bouffant skirt of tulle was made with a front panel of lace and lace panels on either side of the back. Her fingertip veil of silk illusion was attached to a crown of lace and sequins and she carried a cascade bouquet of white carnations and sweetheart roses.

She wore a single strand of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom.

The matron of honor, Mrs. Eugene Shippa of Dover, N. H., was attired in a ballerina-length gown of lilac nylon over taffeta with a lace jacket and matching crown with a face veil. She carried a cascade of yellow carnations.

The bridesmaids, Linda Lord, niece of the bride, and Mavis Churchill of Charlestown, N. H., wore gowns, identical to that of the matron of honor, and carried colonial bouquets of yellow carnations.

The junior bridesmaids, Cheryl Lord, niece off the bride, and Kathie Kenney, cousin of the bridegroom, wore gowns of yellow lace over taffeta with matching headbands and carried colonial bouquets of lilac carnations.

The best man was Harmon Gibbons.

The ushers were Robert Lord, brother-in-law of the bride, Jack Kenney, cousin of the bridegroom, and Ralph Day Jr., of Holden, cousin of the bride.

The flower girl, Debbie White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard White of Bangor, wore a gown of yellow lace over yellow taffeta with a matching headband and carried a basket of mixed flowers.

The ring bearer was Master Robert Clayton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cletis Clayton of Dalhart, Tex., and a nephew of the bridegroom.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church vestry which was decorated with Purple and white streamers and wedding bells. The bride's table was centered with a bouquet of mixed flowers.

The guest book was circulated by Mrs, Joan While, sister of the bride, Mrs. Diane Gibbons, Mrs. Mary Holland, and Miss Rita McAloon. presided at the gift table.

Assisting In serving were the Misses Lynn Drinkwater, Jane Drinkwater, Connie Cross, Miriam Jordan, Carlene Weber, Susan Bolster, Susan Hughey, Charlene Foster, Helen Currier, and Virginia Nickerson.

The wedding cake was served by Mrs, Rosanne Clayton. Mrs. Mae Day, aunt of the bride, and Mrs, Beryle Marsh, dipped punch. Mrs. Frances Lord, sister of the bride, and Mrs. Viva Day, the bride's cousin, poured coffee.

The young couple left by motor on a wedding trip the destination of which was not disclosed The bride traveled in a navy blue two-piece suit with white accessories. Mr, and Mrs. Wilson will be at home after May 1 at 47 Vine Street, Hartford, Conn.

The bride was graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1957. She was a member of the Commercial Club, and has been employed as bookkeeper at the Merrill Trust Company.

The bridegroom attended Brewer Schools, Higgins Classical Institute and is a graduate of the Dalhart (Texas) High School. He has just completed three years of service in the U.S. Army, two of which were spent in Germany. He is currently employed by Advo Systems Inc., in Hartford, Conn.
