Miss Esther Elen Welts daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie D. Welts, 28A Mechanic Street, became the bride of Pfc. Patrick Michael Endicott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald W. Endicott of Federal Way, Washington, D.C. September 3rd at 8 p.m. at the United Baptist Church. The Rev. Philip C. Hughey of Allagash officiaced at the double ring, candlelight ceremony. After the wedding ceremony a dedication service was held. The prayer of dedication was given by the Rev. Fred Flewelling of Exeter, N.H.
The altar was decorated with candles and gladioli. Mrs. Arlene Foreman, sister of the bride, played traditional weckding music and also accompanied Kennech Garnett of Sherman, who sang "The Lord's Prayer,' and the bride who sang, "Because" and "Wither Thou Goest." During the dedication service Mr. arnett also sang, "0 Jesus We Have Promised." Mr. and Mrs. R. Quentin Johnson fiang, "God Is Love." At the close of the service Miss Robert Foreman, neice of the bride, sang "As You Travel Through Life Together."
The bride, given in marriage by her brother, of Clifton, N.J. wore a full-length dress of slipper satin. Her chapel lengthtrain was made of satin and lace.The fingertip veil was atached to a pearl crown. She carried a white satin Bible with red roses and streamers. The brides dress was made by Mrs. Keith Humpherey of Washburn.
Mrs. Patricia McKay of Beverly, Mass., matron of honor, wore a street-length dress of tea rose organdy and a crown of sweet-heart roses. She carried a candle and a single rose trimmed with acqua net.
Miss Jeannie Maynard of Rochester, N.H., maid of honor and a cousin of the bride wore a street - length dress of acqua organdy and a crown of sweet-heart roses. She also carried a candle and a single rose trimmed with acqua net. Miss Diane Lamoreau of Presque Isle and Miss Barbara Cushman of Caribou, were bridesmaids. They were dressed the same as the matron of honor. Miss Roberta Foreman of Washburn and Miss Belinda Churchill of Crouseville, were junior bridesmaids. Miss Foreman was dressed like the maid of honor and Miss Churchill dressed like the matron of honor.
Gaylen Mac Donald of Mapleton was best man. Alan Jobnson, David Libby and Bernard Woodman, all of Presque Isle, were ushers. Junior ushers were Danny Coffin and Ben Johnson both of Presque Isle.
The flower girl, Miss Kathy Durost, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Durost, wore a full-length dress of slipper gatin fashioned after the brides. She carried a basket of rose petals. Marc Libby son of Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Libby was ring bearer. He carried a white satin pillow covered with lace, trimmed with lily of the valley.
The brides mother wore a silk print dress with blue accessories and a corsage of red roses. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Foster of Presque Isle sat in place of the grooms parents, who were unable to attend. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church vestry, which was decorated with white wedding bells and colored gladioli.
After the bridal couple had cut the first traditional piece of cake Mrs. Mabel Gouvin of Presque Isle and Mrs. Olive Walton, of Rochester, N.H., both aunts of rhe bride served the cake, made by Mrs. Ted Walton, as a gift to the couple. Mrs. Edith Richardson of Mapleton an aunt of the bride and Mrs. Erla Kierstead of Presque Isle, served at the punch bowls.
Miss Elizabeth Thompson of Beverly, Mass. was in charge of the guest book. Misses Ruby Allbee, Esther Bull, Rita Knight, Elizabeth Johnson and Pam Cronkite assisted at the gift table.
Mrs. Marie Thompson was in charge of the servers who were: Misses Margaret Johnson, Berh Garnett, Gay White, Lorie Sawyer, Pam, Judy and Brenda Ashley, Candy Cronkite, Rebecca Woodman, Kathy Winslow, Berdinia Blanchard, Harriec Libby, Carol McIntrye, Barbara Brown, Sharon Humphrey, Debby Coffin.
Mrs. Lynette Coffin was in charge of the kitchen. Helpers were the Mesdames, Verna Hall, Ineq Wakem, Verna Jarvis, Mary Ackerman, Ethel Giberson, Jean Personiers, and Miss Elsie Johnson.
Both the bride and groom are graduates of Presque Isle High School in the class of 1961. The groom is now serving with the United States Army, stationed at Caribou, Maine.
For a wedding trip to Canada, the bride wore a pea-cock-blue suit with white accessories and a rose corsage.
The wedding party was honored at a rehearsal party given by Mrs. Arlene Foreman, Barbara Churchill, Donald Switzer.
The bride was honored at a bridal shower given by Mrs. Marie Thompson and her daughter.
