Carolyn Smith Weds In Sunday Ceremony

Carolyn Margery Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Smith, Jr., 34 Ohio Street, became the bride of Richard Ray Russell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merle K. Russell, Route 1, Washburn, in a Sunday afternoon ceremony. The Hammond Street Congregational Church was the scene of the double-ring wedding performed by the Rev. E. Charles Dartnell, who was assisted by the Rev. Edward G. Ernst.

Escorted by her father the bride wore a chapel train gown of veiled organza in a Princess style silhouette, with scoop neckline and petal sleeves. Her elbow length veil of bridal illusion was topped with an organza petal cap. She carried a cascade bouquet of white sweetheart roses, ivy, and baby's breath. Her mother carried a white heirloom lace handkerchief.

The maid of honor was Deborah C. Smith, sister of the bride who lives at 34 Ohio Street. Bridesmaids were Miss Sharon Y. Anderson of Brewer. Miss Elizabeth R. Smith of Bangor, and Mrs. Reginald A. Griffin of Glenburn. The flower girls were Beverly J. Veach and Karen M. Veach of Bangor.

The bride's attendants wore identical empire sheath floor length gowns featuring; white cluny lace over pink taffeta bodices and white crepe skirts. Their headpieces were fashioned with bows and petals with chin veils. They carried bouquets of cascade pink sweetheart roses, ivy, and baby's breath.

Rueben R. Grass of Bridgewater was best man. Ushers were Peter M. Russell, brother of the bridegroom, of Washburn; Glendon E. Jackson of Whitefield, and Herbert H. Hopkins of Brewer. Dean Richardson of Bangor was ring bearer.

A reception was held immediately after the ceremony in the vestry of the church. Assisting were Mrs. John C. Beale, Mrs. Wesley M. Richardson, Mrs. Alan R. Miles and Miss Jeri Ann Miles, Mrs. F. William Homsted, Mrs. Charles A. Gravelle, Sr., Mrs. Sumner Bridges and Miss Margot S. Bridges, Miss Nelda L. Scott, Mrs. Reuben R. Grass, and Mrs. Olin L. Thompson.

After a wedding trip the couple will be at home at 45 Pine Street, Proctor, Vt., after August 22.

The bride is a graduate of Brewer High School and Husson College. She is a member of Epsilon Tau Epsilon Sorority and the Milwee Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She is employed as a teacher in West Rutland High School, West Rutland, Vt.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Washburn High School and Husson College. He is a member of the Student Education Association at Husson College. He is employed as a teacher at West Rutland High School in West Rutland, Vt.
