MELVINA CUNNINGHAM IS BRIDE IN PRESQUE ISLE

PRESQUE ISLE -- The United Baptist Church here was the scene of the wedding of Miss Melvina Cunningham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cunningham to Darryl Alden Peary, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Peary, all of Washburn, July 2. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Reuben Martin of East Longmeadow, Mass.

Mrs. Robert Foreman was organist and Stephen Lord was soloist.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of white satin with an empire bodice of lace featuring a scoop neckline, three-quarter length sleeves, and a chapel length train. Her elbow-length veil of bridal illusion was attached to a lace rose. She carried a Bible covered with red sweetheart roses, baby's breath, ivy and stephanotis.

Mrs. Lois Reed of Washburn and. Mrs. Wanita Hallowell of Presque Isle were matrons of honor. Miss Cynthia Bagley of Stetson, Miss Mary Raymond of Houlton and Miss Diana James of Washburn were bridal attendants. All wore floor-length gowns of cherry red and carried red sweetheart roses and white poms.

Miss Cynthia Bull and Miss Debora Day were flower girls. Miss Bull is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lief Bull of East Longmeadow, Mass., and Miss Day the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Day.

Douglas Peary of New York City was best man. Ushers were Sheldon Cunningham, Roger Wood of Solon, and Jim Clark and Larry Wilcox of Washburn.

A reception was held at the church following the ceremony Assisting were Miss Jeannie Baker, Miss Lorraire Turner, Miss Ruth Jardine, Mrs. Janice Day and Mrs. Carolyn Bull.

The bride and bridegroom are graduates of Washburn High School. The bride is a graduate of Aroostook State College and will teach in the St. Francis Elementary School in the fall. The bridegroom will be a senior at Fort Kent State College in the fall.

Following a trip to Boston and New York, the couple will be at home in Fort Kent.
