CECILE MARTIN WEDS DUANE ROBERT SANDS

Miss Cecile Mary Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Martin of Caribou, became the bride of Duane Robert Sands, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Sands of Washburn, in rites at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in North Caribou. The Rev. Abel Hebert performed the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Ronald Guerrette, organist, played traditional wedding marches. Beauty baskets of mixed flowers decorated the altar.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of silk organza over taffeta fashioned with a scooped nickline and long pointed sleeves. Gathered up at the waist with a self-fabric bow was full detachable chapel train. Hey elbow length bouffant veil of silk illlusion was attached to a crown of seed pearls. She carried a cascade bouquer of red roses and pink carnations.

Miss Ginny White was maid of horior, She wore turquoise gown of silk organza over taffeta featuring satin rosebuds at the empire waistline and scooped neckline. She wore a matching headpiece with seed pearls and a waterfall veil. She carried a smaller cascade bouquec than the bride of red roses and pink carnations, Miss Shirley Thibodeau and Mrs. Cheryl Russel were bridesmaids. They wore identical candy pink gowns of silk organza over taffeta featuring satin rosebuds at empire waistline and scooped neckline, They wore matching headpieces with seed pearls and a waterfall veil. They carried colonial bouquets of red roses and pink carnations. Timmy Weatherhead was best man. Ushers were Bernard Martin and Paul Russell.

For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Martin chose a beige silk dress complemented with white accessories and a corsage of pink sweetheart roses, Mrs. Sands, mother of the bridegroom, chose a mint green knit dress complemented with white accessories and a corsage of pink sweetheart roses.

A reception was held following the ceremony at the American Legion Home. Beauty baskets of mixed flowers were decorations. Mrs. Bernice Thibodeau was in charge of the gift table. Mrs. Fern Sands, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, cut the cake after the first traditional slice had been cut by the couple.

For traveling, the bride wore a navy blue linen suit with white accessories and a corsage,of red roses. After a wedding trip the couple will reside on York St. Caribou.

The bride is a graduate of Caribou High School. The bridegroom is a graduate of Washburn High School and the Univesity of Maine. He is employed by Maine Sugar Industries in Easton.
