The ceremony was perform by the Rev. Read Blackstone. Miss Martha Bull was soloist. Mrs. Bert Sands was organist.
The bride, given in marriage by her father and mother, wore a floor-length gown of peau de soie with a bodice of galloon lace featuring long pointed sleeves accented by a bow at a mock empire waistline and a chapel train. Her elbow-length tulle veil was attached to a cluster of peau-de-soie rosettes with seed pearls.
Mrs. Robert Clayton was matron of honor. She wore a floor-length gown of burgundy peau-de-sole, carried a long stem rose and wore a matching net headpiece.
Bridesmaids were Miss Valerie McDougall of Hermon and Miss Barbara Paridis. Junior bridesmaid was Miss Theresa Theriault, Miss Sherrie Gail Theriault was flower girl; They all wore gowns of seashell pink peau de soie similar to the matron of honor's and carried long stemmed roses. The bride's and attendants' gowns were made by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Robert Clayton, and the bride's mother.
Larry Theriault was best man. Ushers were Jon Clark and Darrell Peary of Fort Kent. Junior ushers were Timmy and Danny Crouse of Crouseville and Stephen Theriault. Marty Clayton son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Clayton, was ring bearer.
A reception was held in the church vestry. Assisting were Miss Cindy Crouse, Mrs. Joan Crouse, Mrs. Bernadette Rossignol, Mrs. Shirley Sperry, Mrs. Viola Paradis, Mrs. Polly Albert; Mrs. Carline Donovan, Miss Susie Plissey, Mrs. Lois Pike, Miss Susan James and Mrs. Vicki Sponberg.
The bride is a graduate of Washburn High School and has been employed at Dupram Farms. The bridegroom is a graduate of Washburn High School.
The couple left on a trip to Iowa and Oklahoma where the bridegroom is training with the National Guard. After November the couple will be at home on the Woodland Road in Washburn, where the bridegroom is self employed.
