SHARON SPONBERG WEDS AT PRESQUE ISLE RITE

PRESQUE ISLE--In a ceremony Friday evening at Bethany Baptist Church Miss Sharon llene Sponberg, daughter of Mrs. Hazel Sponberg of Presque Isle and Ernest Sponberg of Washburn, became the bride of Harry F. Rideout of Presque Isle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry R. Rideout of Washburn.

The Rev. John MacNeill, pastor. officiated at the ceremony. Mrs. Harold Helms, church organist, played traditional wedding music and Mrs. Sylvia Weinberg was soloist.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length empire gown of white velvet made by her mother, featuring a rolled collar and long pointed sleeves. Her detachable cathedral train fell from the shoulders and cathedral length veil of nylon tulle was attached to a petal silk illusion headpiece decorated with seed pearls and crystals. She carried a white orchid and streamers of stephanotis on a velvet covered Bible, and her only jewelry was heart shaped pendant, a gift of the bridegroom.

The matron of honor, Mrs. Vicki Sponberg, was attired in a floor length gown of candy pink velvet, fashioned empire style with lantern sleeves. Her headpiece was a pillbox hat and bow with veil. She carried a white satin and lace fan decorated with pink and white carnations.

Miss Maureen Bishop of Presque Isle and Mrs. Joyce Rediker of Meriden, Conn., were bridesmaids. Their gowns and headpieces were the same color and style as the matron of honor's, and they carried white satin and lace fans decorated with pink and white poms. The flower girls, Miss Debra Stodard, Concord, N. H., and Vickie St. John, Presque Isle, wore gowns similar in style and color to the bridesmaids. Their headpieces were candy pink velvet with bows attached to tulle and they carried white baskets containing assorted flower petals. Their gowns were also made by the brides's mother.

Ring bearer was Bruce Stoddard, Concord, N.H.

The best man was Jerome Churchill of Washburn.

Ushers were Daryle Sponberg, Richard Rideout, Leon Buckingham and Dave Rideout, Leon Buckingham and Dave Johnston.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the vestry.

Assisting were Miss Alison Barker, Mrs. Geraldine Stoddard, Mrs. Gwendolyn St. John, Miss Carol Carmichael, Mrs. Claudia Madore, Mrs. Marjorie Farley, Mrs. Lou Jacks, Mrs. Sheldon Peary, Mrs. Marilyn Prince, Miss Wanda Carmichael, and Miss Claudette Cannan.

The bride is a graduate of Washburn High School and is a senior at Ricker College at Houlton where she is majoring in English.

The bridegroom also graduated from Washburn High School and is self-employed in Presque Isle.

Following a wedding trip to Quebec the couple will be at home at 121 Parsons St., Presque Isle.
