Sharon Ann Parker Wed In June 1 Rite

Miss Sharon Ann Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merton Parker of Woodland, became the bride of Lester M. Bartley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Bartley of Blaine, Saturday evening at the Washburn Pentecostal Church.

Rev. Lloyd Sparks, pastor of the church, officiated at the double ring ceremony, assisted by Rev. Harrison Tilley of Mars Hill. The altar was decorated with white gladioli and candelabra.

Mrs. Margaret Harris, aunt of the bride, played the wedding march and accompanied Mrs. Lois Burden, aunt of the bride, who sang "Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us"; Penny Burden, cousin of the bride sang "Wither Thou Goest"; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kinney, sang "Each for the Other" and "Oh, Promise Me."

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a chantilly type lace sheath gown with fly-away chapel train fashioned with jeweled scoop neckline and traditional long pointed sleeves. Natural scallop lace outlined the hem of the sheath skirt and watteau effect chapel train that flowed from the shoulders. Her shoulder length veil of bridal illusion was attached to a lily of the valley pillbox.

She carried a white Bible which held a corsage of orange sweetheart roses and white poms.

The maid of honor, Miss Penny Burden, cousin of the bride, wore a floor length mint green sheath gown with matching head piece, and carried a long stemmed white rose.

The bridesmaids, sisters of the bride, Misses Jo and Faith Parker, wore identical floor length tangerine sheath gowns with matching head pieces, and carried long stemmed white roses.

The junior bridesmaid, sister of the bridegroom, Candace Bartley, wore a floor length tangerine sheath gown with matching head piece, and carried a long stemmed white rose.

Best man was Melvin Guiggy of Mars Hill. The ushers were Elmer Watson and James Page. Junior usher was Winston Gee, cousin of the bridegroom.

The flower girl, Miss Kathy Parker, niece of the bride, wore a floor length mint green sheath gown, with matching headpiece. She carried a basket of flower petals.

The ring bearer was Cary Dorman, Jr., of Presque Isle.

A reception followed in church basement.

The bride is a graduate of Washburn High School in 1963 and has been employed for the past three years at the A. R. Gould Hospital.

The bridegroom graduated from Aroostook Central Institute, Mars Hill in 1963 and graduated magna cum laude from Union College with a BA degree in mathematics. He is currently doing graduate study in mathematics at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas.

The couple will reside after June 1 [1968] at Lawrence, Kansas.
