WASHBURN -- Mr. and Mrs. Osborne Burton have announced the engagement of their daughter, Penny Lou, to Arnold L. Wheatley, son of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Wheatley of Garden City, Kans.

Miss Burden is a graduate of Washburn High School and is employed in the accounting department of Maine Potato Growers, Inc.

Mr. Wheatley is a graduate of Garden City High School and of Garden City Community Junior College, with an associate of science degree in electrical engineering. The future bridegroom has also attended the University of Kansas and plans to continue his studies there this fall. He is employed by Oswalt Industries, Inc., at Garden City.

A June 7 wedding is being planed.
