Mary Carter, Daniel Kaler Pledge Vows At Washburn

WASHBURN -- The First Baptist Church was the setting of a wedding April 26 [1969] when Miss Mary Anne Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray H. Carter of Washburn, became the bride of Daniel Jay Kaler, son of Mrs. Laurada Barter of Boothbay Harbor and the late James Kaler.

The Rev. Relland P. Clark officiated. Mrs. Llewellyn Jones was organist.

The bride wore a gown of silk faille, designed with empire waistline and leg-of-mutton sleeves of alencon lace.

Her elbow length veil fell from a coronet of seed pearls. She carried a cascade of white sweetheart roses and English ivy.

Mrs. William Harvey of Gardiner was matron of honor. She wore a floral silk gown of yellow, mint green and white and carried a colonial bouquet of yellow sweetheart roses and white poms.

Honorary bridesmaid was Mrs. Clinton Farmer of Lemoore, Calif.

The best man was David Kaler, Woolwich. Ushers were James Carter and Howard Barter.

A reception followed at the home of the bride's parents. Assisting were Mrs. Thomas Hill. Mrs. Sheila O'Donnell, Miss Suzanne Burke, Miss Holly Barter, Miss Ann Thibodeau, Miss Anna Thompson and Mrs. Robert Umphrey.

Following a wedding trip to Quebec, the couple will reside at 67 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor.

The bride attended Washburn High School and graduated from Kent's Hill School and the University of Maine School of Nursing. She has been employed at New England Medical Center, Boston, Mass.

The bridegroom graduated from Morse High School and Coastal School of Professional Deep Sea Diving, Oakland, Calif., and served four years in the Marines. He is self-employed at Boothbay Harbor.
