Susan Brown Becomes Bride At Houlton Rite

WASHBURN -- Lidstone United Methodist Church was the setting June 28 [1969] for the wedding of Miss Susan Jean Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Brown of South Main Street, to Michael A. McLaughlin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey McLaughlin of Houlton.

The Rev. Raymond Murchie performed the ceremony. Mrs. Noreen McIntosh was soloist and Mrs. Louise Hughes was organist.

Her illusion veil was attached to a headpiece of white daisies. She carried her mother's white Bible, covered with white mums, daisies and ribbon streamers.

Pink floor-length gowns were worn by the bride's attendants. They carried colonial bouquets of pink daisies. Miss Linda Ivey of Houlton was honor attendant and bridesmaids were Miss Janet Cheney of Berwick and Miss Susan Jones of Washburn.

George Niles of Houlton was best man. Ushers were Richard Sullivan of Houlton, Thomas Greenlaw of Smyrna Mills, Jon McLaughlin and Keith Brown.

After a reception at the church, the bridal couple left on a trip to Bermuda.

Assisting in serving at the reception were Mrs. George Doody, Mrs. Clair Lavway, Mrs. Guy Turner, Mrs. James Plissey Sr., Misses Pauline Doody, Sharon Humphrey, Carolyn Foster and Mrs. Roger Foster.
