Miss Oakes Is Wed To Washburn Man

Washburn -- Miss Charlotte Ann Oakes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Oakes of Ashland, became the bride of Steven Nickerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Nickerson of Washburn, Nov. 15 [1969] at the Advent Christian Church.

The Rev. Willis Jones performed the candlelight ceremony. Soloist was George LeBlanc singing ''Because'' and Mr. Willis Gardner who sang "The Lords Prayer." Accompanist was Miss Judith Snowman.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an A-line gown of chiffon with a lace bodice and seed pearls. Her head piece was of flowers seeded with pearls and attached to a full length veil. She carried pink ruses and chrysanthemums with white streamers.

Serving as maid of honor was Miss Mary Durrell. Bridesmaids were Sandra Pure and Dawn Wilcox. They wore bright pink gowns and carried light pink chrysanthemums with light pink streamers.

Best man was Charles McIntire. Ushers were Gerald and Warren Oakes Jr., brothers of the bride.

A reception was held in the church vestry. The couple will make their home in Presque Isle.
