FIFTY YEARS OF MARRIAGE - Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Pettengill celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Feb. 7 [1970], with a party at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Doak of Presque Isle.

Pettengills Celebrate Golden Wedding

Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Pettengill, Presque Isle, observed their golden wedding anniversary Feb. 7 hosted by their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Pettengill, and daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Doak, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Doak.

Cornelius and Mildred Pettengill were married Feb. 7, 1920, by the Rev. J.B. Ranger at the Baptist Parsonage, Presque Isle.

Mr. Pettengill was born in Caribou and is a veteran of World War I. He has farmed ever since and has lived on his farm, on the Washburn Rd. since 1945.

Mrs. Pettengill was born in Presque Isle.

The Pettengills have two children, Mrs. Roberta Doak, Washburn, and Calvin Pettengill, North Kingston, R.I.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Hostesses were Roberta Doak and Hilda Pettengill, granddaughter Donna Pettengill was in charge of the guest book. Amelia Doak was in charge of the gift table.

The couple received many cards, gifts and a money tree. They received long distance calls from Mr. and Mrs. Larel Nickerson, Deadwood, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Pettengill, South Kingston, R.I.; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Doak, grandson, Harrisburg, Pa.

Out of town guests were Mrs. Matthew Stempson Waltham, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Pettengill, Donna, Darlene, and Dennis Gardiner. North Kingston, R.I.; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Kingsbury; Mars Hill; Mrs. Bernard Campbell, Ora Smith. Mr. and Mrs. William Wood. Mrs. Herbert Boder, Presque Isle.
