The Rev. Raymond Murchie performed the wedding ceremony. Organist was Mrs. Bert Sands.
The bride, given in marriage by her step-father, wore a floor-length pique gown styled with empire waist, full Victorian sleeves and high neckline accentuated by an heirloom cameo, a gift of the bridegroom's parents. Irish lace trim enhanced the gown. Her elbow-length veil fell from a headpiece band trimmed with Irish lace. She carried a colonial bouquet of daisies, poms and baby's breath.
Miss Iris Stoddard was maid of honor. She wore a floor-length turquoise floral print, with empire waist, high neckline and long sleeves. She carried a basket of painted daisies.
Bruce Carlton was best man. Patrick Stoddard of Washburn and Robert Paradis of Island Falls were ushers.
The reception was held in the church dining room. Assisting were Miss Carol Carmichael, Miss Carol Parks, Miss Cindy Chapin. Mrs. Vesta Thompson and Mrs. James Harrison. Miss Cindy
McGowan made the wedding cake.
The bride is a 1966 graduate of Washburn District High School, 1970 graduate of the University of Maine with a bachelor of science in education. She will teach third grade in elementary school at Island Falls this fall.
The bridrgroom is a 1966 graduate of Washburn District High School, post graduate of Lee Academy, and a graduate of the Maritime Forest Ranger School, Fredericton, N. B. He is employed by the Northern Division of Maine State Forest Service, Island Falls.
Mr. and Mrs. Carlton will reside during the summer at Staceyville.
