Karyl Smith Of Mars Hill Marries Washburn Man

WASHBURN -- Miss Karyl Lee Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith, of Mars Hill, became the bride of Alden Henry Wileox Jr.. son of Mr. and Mrs. Alden Wilcox, of Washburn in a candlelight service Aug. 7, [1970] at the Pentecostal Church here.

The Rev. David Asel performed the ceremony. Mrs. Kenneth Harris was organist and Mrs. Larry Wilcox was soloist.

The bride wore an organza and chantilly lace empire gown accented by a chapel train. Her veil fell a crown of seed pearls. She carried a white Bible with streamers and stephanotis.

The maid of honor was Miss Carol McKim of Blaine.

Bridesmaids were Miss Joan McKim and Miss Bonnie Crouse of Ribonson.

The maid of honor wore a lavender gown of brocaded taffeta. The bridesmaids wore pink. Each attendant carried a long stemmed pink rose.

Miss Cathy Wilcox was flower girl and Mark Wilcox was ring bearer.

Best man was Ernest Rasmussen and ushers were Woodford Wilcox of Perham and Larry Wilcox.

A reception was held at the church dining room. Assisting were Miss Cathy Mahan, Mars Hill; Miss Bonnie Bell, Caribou; Miss Karla Martin, Mrs. Larry Wilcox, Mrs. Frederic Martin, Mrs. Quentin Jardine and Mrs. Milford Dickinson.

The bride is a 1969 graduate of Centrnl Aroostook High School, Mars Hill, and attended Burdette College, Boston.

The bridegroom is a 1969 graduate of Washburn District High School and attended the Northern Maine Vocational School at Presque Isle.

Following a honeymoon at St. Froid Lake, the bridegroom will enter the Armed Forces. The bride will remain with his parents until she can join him.
