Sandra Ireland Marries At Washburn Ceremony

WASHBURN -- Miss Sandra Jean Ireland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Ireland, was united in marriage to Sgt. Charles E. Ballard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Ballard, of McArthur, Ohio, Jan. 16 [1971] at a wedding ceremony held at the United Methodist Church.

The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Raymond Murchie. Mrs. Joye Buck was soloist and Mrs. Susan Sands was organist.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white peau de soie with a detachable lace train. Her veil fell from a crown, trimmed with seed pearls. She carried yellow roses.

Miss Jacqlyn Ireland was maid of honor. Her gown was aqua peau de soie. Bridesmaids were Miss Karen Ireland and Miss Sheila Olsen.

Their gowns were pink peau de soie. They carried bouquets of white, pink and blue flowers.

Shelby Leach was flower girl and Terry Ireland was ring bearer.

Sgt. Dennis Caplinger of Gary, Ind., was best man. Ushers were Sgt. Gerald Johnson, Huntsville, Ala., and Sgt. John Colin of New York.

A reception was held at the Mapleton Community Hall, Mapleton.

The bride is a 1970 graduate of Washburn District High School.

The bridegroom is a 1967 graduate of Vinton Consolidated High School of McArthur, Ohio. He has been stationed at Loring Air Force Base.

Sgt. and Mrs. Ballard went to McArthur, Ohio, on their wedding trip. Following a short leave, Sgt. Ballard will be transferred to Vietnam. Mrs. Ballard will remain with her husband's parents.
