Bride Of Former Washburn Man

The marriage of Miss Carol Jeanice Byess of Union Grove, Ala., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tex Byess of Union Grove, and Vernon Nelson Bondeson of Huntsville. Ala., son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. Bondeson of Washburn took place April 29 [1972] at the Union Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Will W. Bruce officiated at the ceremony with Byran Books as soloist and Miss Brenda Hill as organist.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her gown of white eyelet embroidered organdy featured Venice lace trim, an empire waist, high round neck, Old English sleeves and attached floor-length chapel train. She wore a mantilla of white organza embroidered with lily of the valley and trimmed with chantilly lace attached to a headband of white roses, lily of the valley, seed pearls and ribbon bows. She carried red and white carnations and gypsophillia with ribbon streamers tied in love knots.

Her matron of honor was Mrs. Erna Gajdos of Huntsville, while bridesmaids were Miss Gay Light of Arab, Ala., Miss Janice Elrod of Boaz, Ala., and Miss Creshia Waddell of Cherokee, Ala. They wore red and white striped dacron and cotton blend dresses with white flower designs on the stripes, featuring empire waists with scoop necklines, and leg of mutton sleeves with ribbon lace at waist and sleeves. Their hats were white floppy lace with red ribbon bands and streamers to the floor and they carried red longstem carnations. The dresses of, the bride and her attendants were all made by her mother.

Best man was Jesse King. Ushers were Randy Light, Tommy Lewis and Anthony Nappier.

The bride's mother wore a light blue serenade A-line dress with roll collar and bishop sleeves trimmed in silver braid with white accessories.

A reception followed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Brooks, grandparents of the bride, Chattanooga, Tenna.

For traveling the bride wore a two-piece ensemble of pink and white checked cotton with long cuffed sleeves and scoop neckline with rounded collar.

The couple will reside at 210 Swanson Drive, N.W., Huntsville, where the bridegroom is a department head with J.C. Penney. The bride is fashion merchandising instructor at Alverson-Draughon College, also in Huntsville.
