Nickerson-Guiggey Rites Solemnized

WASHBURN -- Miss Prudence Nickerson of Washburn and Roger Guiggey of Blaine exchanged vows April 28 [1973] at the Pentecostal Church here before the Rev. David Asel and assembled relatives and friends in a double-ring candlelight ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of E. Keith Nickerson of Washburn and the late Avis R. Nickerson. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Guiggey of Blaine.

The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Harris. She wore an empire-waist gown with bubbled chiffon top, puffed sleeves below the elbow with satin ribbon interwoven through the looped lace at the waist and elbows. Her skirt was designed in A-line style of crepe under chiffon. She carried red sweetheart roses on a white Bible.

Maid of honor was Linda Guiggey with the bridesmaids being Rachel Hobbs and Christine Humphrey. Tammy Guiggey was flower girl.

The bridegroom's attendant was Melvin Guiggey and Charles Hobbs and Wendell Humphrey ushered. Ring bearer was Philip Humphrey.

The newlyweds were honored at a reception in the church dining room where Mrs. Kenneth Harris served the cake and Mrs. Robert Tilley the punch.

Others assisting with serving included Beth Tilley, Holly Maynard and Sherri Harris.

Mrs. Charles Hobbs circulated the guest book.

In charge of the gift table were Cindy and Patricia Tilley and Faith Parker.

Mrs. Guiggey chose a yellow dress of brocade with chiffon sleeves complimented with a corsage of red sweetheart roses for the couple's honeymoon to Virginia.

They will reside in Blaine.

A graduate of Washburn District High School, the bride is employed as a secretary by Maine Potato Growers in Presque Isle. The bridegroom graduated from Central Aroostook High School of Mars Hill and Unity College. He is engaged in farming.
