Washburn youth named top farmer

GREENVILLE -- James Carter of Washburn was chosen Maine's Outstanding Young Farmer for 1973-74 by the Bangor Extension Service and the University of Maine here Saturday.

Carter was awarded an all-expense paid trip to Dubuque, Iowa, where he will enter the national outstanding young farmer competition March 31 to April 2 [1974].

The presentation was made at a banquet sponsored by the Maine State Jaycees Raynor (Razor) Crosman was the guest speaker. James Thompson was master of ceremonies.
