Washington Wrestling
W In preparation of this year, wrestling coach Mike Meneses, has given no leeway. Wrestlers who need to make weight were put on a 5-meal diet, eating 5 small meals a day to keep the wrestlers from starving and staying healthy. The team went to tournaments out of the city where only the top ranked schools are invited, giving the team more experience away from city wrestling.
Some of the top schools put city wrestlers down not because of lack of wrestling experience, but not Washington because of the many times they had placed in these tournaments. Schools like Napa, Vacaville, and Fresno give Washington High School much respect because our wrestlers have showed they the quality of our wrestling. Now, Washington is invited to more regional tournaments because our wrestling program is becoming well-known throughout the state.
All part of our preparation, Washington Hich School is ready to on the Championship once again at GWHS on Saturday, February 23, 10:00 AM.
