Signed by the Federals as a free agent only three days before the opening game of the 1983 season, Joey Walters would become the best receiver in the history of the Washington franchise. After 6 years playing in the CFL, Joey came south and finished second on the Federals with 63 catches during the 1983 season. Led the Eastern Conference in 1984 with 98 receptions and was named to several USFL all-star teams. When the Federals moved south to Orlando for the 1985, Joey went along and paced the Renegades with 58 catches. After the USFL folded, Joey would play for the Houston Oilers in 1987 before retiring from football.
