A Kick In The Pants Goes To...

 

  • To those parents who think cupcakes for birthdays in school are more important than the October Parents Academy.  The academy was an opportunity for parents to learn more about the math program and other selected curriculum matters which impacts on their children's education.  Only 14 people registered for it.  Yet about 30+ parents showed up at the September Board of Education Meeting to protest the ban on sending in cupcakes to celebrate their child's birthday in school.  Where is the priority?

 

  • the district Director of Transportation for not scheduling last year the emergency exit drills required by the state and for not knowing what safety harnesses needed to be used for pre-schoolers.  According to informed sources, it took three tries before they got the right safety harnesses.

 

  • the Superintendent who admitted in the newspaper on August 15th that the district doesn’t have a bus safety manual which is long overdue.  Why has he retained a Transportation Director who is not aware of the fundamentals of transportation safety?
