The True Tenchi novels (TTM) are three stories written by Masaki Kajishima (co-creator) and Kuroda Yosuke (scriptwriter for the second OAV series) that establish backstory in the OAV universe. Novel One: Azusa 6 yrs before Azusa is crowned emperor, Azusa and Kagato dual. Azusa is defeated, and Tsunami rescues Azusa. She leaves Azusa on Earth where Azusa meets Funaho. Novel Two: Yousho Novel Three: Washu Three more novels are promised; at least two are already in development. The Tenchi 101 explicitly states that the TTM novels have nothing to do with the Hasegawa novels.
