After Antipunx broke up in January 2001 Peter,Robert,Fleur and Wouter decided they wanted to go on making music together. They did, and they called themselves Humus after a long time of discussing.
The first Humus-song was actually the last song Antipunx wrote "She´s gonna make you bleed", a song about equal rights for men and women. Then Fleur came up with a bassline she wrote years ago and so the first real Humus-song was born. "Worldwar 3" a song about the stupidity of war. After a few months of writing songs suddenly Mark showed up in the practiceroom to never leave again, that must have been sometime around the fall of 2001. They decided to do their first show in the SWAF in Hoorn to be different then other ´Parkhofbands´: they all do their first show at Parkhof, this happened January 28th 2002. By that time they only had 8 songs, so they asked Olho De Gato to play with them. They showed up but without their guitarists, by coïncidence another band Krush came to see the show and had all their equipment with them and so they played instead of Olho De Gato. In the meanwhile Fleur got pregnant and only had to go a few months when playing the first show so after that Humus had a break. Fleur & Wouters' daughter Gwen Ivana was born in March 2002. Humus was ready to do some more rocking shows and to record some songs, so they did. In June of that year at the Dare To Do studio´s, Alkmaar 10 songs where recorded. It took a while for the recording to be released, but it was released in Januari of 2003 on wastedyouthpowerrecords. Around that time a new guitarplayer joined Humus: labelboss Geert-Jan who played in another band Wouter also played in, Betercore. In the summer of 2003 they recorded for the second time with Gijs of the Dare To Do Studio´s in Alkmaar. This time for a tour cd-r, a split with the hiphoppers of Stosil and a split with the "Seeing Red plays Lärm" band. In August of that year Humus & Betercore went on tour to Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland which was a succes. They played in Lübeck(D), Kopenhagen(DM), Götheborg(SW), Oslo(N), Umëa(SW), Helsinki(F), Türku(F), Stockholm(SW) and Helsingborg(SW). By the end of October 2003 Mark decides to quit Humus ´cause of musical differences. Humus is currently locked up in their rehearsalroom writing new hits. |
