       What is Wastewatts?

Wastewatts is a Sustainable Technology discussion forum hosted by Yahoo Groups.

The role of the group is to unite enthusiasts from the various disciplines of Alternative Energy and Sustainable Technology.

Recent topics covered include home heating using waste vegetable oil - as implemented by the Babington burner.

In addition we explore running Diesel engines on Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) to run an off-grid generator, and produce hot water for heating

We are particularly interested in novel external combustion heat engines such as the Stirling engine, Manson engine and modern steam engines, and the utilisation of waste as an alternative fuel, to power these engines and generate heat and power.

This website provides links to many other alternative energy references, to offer the enthusiast access to a wide range of information.

Wastewatts is not a commercial organisation. It is run by a group of like minded enthusiasts for the benefit of all.

Wastewatts looks at generating heat and power from forestry and wood waste and from waste vegetable oil. Both are carbon neutral, renewable  bio-fuels.  With petroleum fuel prices rising rapidly, is it not time for you to consider how you are going to fuel your future?  Wastewatts shows how existing technology can be adapted for renewable fuels to power a sustainable future.
A Lister CS 5-1 6hp diesel engine built in 1950, adapted to run on waste vegetable oil, and power a 3kW generator and domestic combined heat and power system.
This Lister CS diesel engine will run with very little modification on waste vegetable oil obtained from a local restaurant.
