Story:
You are Ryudo, Geohound (bounty/treasure
hunter...
dude-for-hire. Hell you could call him
ass-whupper
for hire if you wanted.) along with your partner;
Skye
you have just been hired to take Songstress Elena
from
point A to point B, and back again. Simple,
no?...
... ...ok stop right there, if you just agreed
then
you've never played a RPG where you didn't use a
color
to tell from the different entries in the series
so
shut up right now. This is a "Epic" RPG, say
that
with me now boys and girls E-P-I-C which means
long...
which means very long, very deep... but this is a
short review... so I'll continue, ok after you do
the
point A to B thing--which isnt nearly as simple
as it
seems--shit happens, loads of shit happens, and
most
of it bad. And I mean baaad shit. How they can
put a
small rag tag group of people through this much
shit
on a single CD is way beyond me. So obviously I
love
the story... the ending aint that great but I'm
not
going into that right now.
9/10 - Awesome, drag you in, thought pravoking
story... loses one point for a sub par ending.
Control:
This one's got a curve, a good amount of menus
and
stuff to remember, but its all understndable and
required, you wanna move? you move, you wanna
kill
something, you kill something. So it works.
7/10 - Good, but takes a bit to remember all the
menu
symbols in battle
Gameplay:
Ok now this is where this game spanks you and
makes
you call it "Daddy" Battles are a smooth mix of a
strategy and a turn based RPG, the way they have
who
goes when is superb. A bar on the bottom of the
screen with everybody's face scrolling along,
including the villians. When it reaches a certan
point you put in your comman, and when it reaches
a
second point you do that command. If your
attacked
between these two points you lose your turn and
get
knocked back. Something you can also do to
enemies
with the right kind of attack. Instead of lining
up
like a normal RPG, everybody's running around
attacking (some attacks are just to keep them
busy and
dont do any damage) Its easy to keep track of
people
and fun as hell to watch when all hell breaks
loose.
Strategy is key, and not even that hard to work
out.
And one of my favorate things; you never have to
pick
characters. Sure there are more than your team
can
have, but there are never more at that moment in
the
story, somebody's always off doing something else
if
there are too many people there at that one time.
And
it doesn't even seem forced. So no leaving other
characters behind while your favorates go out and
get
strong, you gotta use everybody.
10/10 - There may be a few tiny flaws, but your
too
busy having fun to give a damn... trust me on
that
one.
Replay Value:
Well there aernt really any "Side Quests" like
extra
monsters or secret weapons. And not many choices
to
take you down a different path. But you might
wanna
play it again just for the deep involving story.
And
to see if you can recognize any clues for the
many
myrid twists and turns the story takes further
down
the road. (There are some you really dont see
coming.)
7/10 - You'll probably play it again if you
become a
huge fan, or think you missed some conversation
during
dinner or something.
Overall:
96/100 - This game is yo Pimp Daddy, go buy it
now
while the DC is still on the shelves befo' I
smack you sucka!
