Power Stone 2 Review
Power Stone 2
Rating: Teen
4 player
Story:
The Power Stones are being collected again, and every
warrior travels to a mysterious castle for their own
reasons. Not much of a plot but a hellofa lot more
than most fighting games. 6/10
Control:
This is better than some 2D fighting games i've
played, you get where you want, the buttons are
smartly designed, and very customizable. Special
moves are either two buttons together, or one if you
want to set it like that. Running, jumping, hanging
from a post, grabbing a giant squeaky mallet and
bashing your friends upside the head, all easy and
quick to do...fun also. I never had any problems
really. 9/10
Voice acting, Sound effects, and Music:
voices are cool, announcer is wierd, music is
interesting but nothing to write home about, and
smashing your buddy over the head with a squeaky
mallet sounds just like I thought it would. 7/10
Gameplay:
Now this is some fun &$#^, lotsa different characters
to choose, each with a super form, good amount of
levels, and instead of three rounds you have one round
with three areas, in most cases its a starting area,
that turns into a moving transition area, and into a
final area if you make it that far, aside from the
secret levels and boss levels and submarine level
their all like that. TONS of weapons, TONS AND TONS
OF FREAKING WAYS TO BEAT YOUR FRIEND SENCELESS AND
TAKE HIS POWER STONES......good holesome fun aint it?
Though sometimes it seems less like a fighting game
and more like a bout of Streets of Rage 3, while not a
bad thing, it doesnt always feel like a fighting game.
You may notice this after you dodge some boulders,
jump over some traps, then grab a beartrap and make
your best friend not make it to the door before he's
trapped and fall over a cliff, then you forget it as
he gets a gattling gun and you dodge the bullets long
enough to get in close and combo his sneaky butt
across the room. 9/10
Replay Value:
Hmmm...lemme think, multiple modes of play, with lots
of characters (who have no individual endings by the
way...blech) on a lot of difficulties that actually
change how the game is played. Plus there are modes,
secrets, and items to earn, not many of the first two,
just a couple of things to mess around with, 2 secret
characters and 3 secret levels, not including the boss
levels. But the items..did I mention there were a lot
of items? Cause there are....TONS PEOPLE! A whole
item shop devoted to buying, selling, and creating
items and cards (used to make more items) attacking
items, defensive items, healing items, and items that
follow you around and spit fire at your enemies, does
that rule or not? and this will take you a while,
unless you guy a strategy guide......and it'll still
take you a while to earn them, buy them, or get the
ingredients to make them, which you earn in a whole
seperate mode where you play the game and it saves the
money you earn and items you use. 10/10
Overall:
Definately an interesting game, not as good as the
first one in terms of fights, but still groundbreaking
and fun and beautiful and violent, all good thingies. 87/100
