There needs to be a story if you're gonna play the offline mode but there isn't a story. I give story a 0/10 Control You need a keyboard if you're gonna play online. Well you don't need one but it will help a lot if you are going online with it. The normal control is kinda easy to learn but sometimes if might forget the game doesn't have certain actions like other games do, sadly I can't remember what the action was but it kept annoying me when I played the game. I give control a 8/10 Voice Acting, Sound Effects and Music There isn't any voice acting. The sound effects are average and could have been a lot better. The music is okay but very forgetable. I give voice acting, sound effects and music a 4/10 GamePlay I am going to split this into two section. Offline Gameplay: Make your character and head into the forest after talking to some people. Since this is the first stage it should be easy, WRONG, it's way to hard cause you have a very weak weapon and you can't move while attacking. If you die you drop all the money your have on you and your weapon. Now you have no weapon but it's still in the forest but the monsters are all arround it so hope you can grab it. After you beat the first three stages you find out who have to go back and hit pillars to open up the fourth and last stage. Thats right only four stages with three areas each. Once you beat the game you unlock hard mode then very hard mode. The game is also VERY boring cause there are no people to talk to in the stages. i give offline gameplay a 3/10 Online Gameplay: This is a little better. Enter your code into the game, you only do this once, make a character if you don't already and connect to the net. Now you get to choose a ship then a lobby. There are way too many ships and lobbies and most have no body in them. Now in a lobby you can join or start a room but you can only join normal unless your at level 20 or so which unlocks hard and level 40 for very hard. Now while inside a game you can talk to people and join them, this is the best part cause you get to meet a lot of new people. You can even trade cards and find each other when you want a person to play a game with. The game is fun at first, only cause of the meeting new people but soon the fact that you're playing the same stages over and over and over hundreds of times you will find out the game is very boring and probally quit playing. It's always fun to play again every now and then but it's never the same after the first 40 hours. The biggest problem with online gameplay is the cheats and PKers. People can freeze you and monsters, kill you, take your weapon and money after dying, copy weapons and some copied weapons will cause the game to freeze. if the game freezes you better hope your save doesn't get deleted like it does sometimes. You can also lose all the items you are carrying and all your money. Another problem is when people join during the game you have to wait cause the scree pauses untill they are in. I give online gameplay a 6/10 Replay Value The game is very short, you can beat it at level 10 if you play with higher level people. I played the game for about 60 hours but the game gets very boring after awhile. Maybe if there wasn't so many cheaters and more areas the game wouldn't get so boring so fast. I give replay value a 7/10 Final Score I give Phantasy Star Online a 60/100
