Anime Forum Games Links Movies Music Profiles Survivor TV Shows The story in Resident Evil is really lame and over used. A computer takes over a building when a virus is set loose inside of it. A woman wakes up in her mansion and can't remember anything. Soon a group a men and women bust into the house and lead her to a secret passage that leads to a train that takes them to the building. THey have to shut off the computer but a lot of stuff they weren't expected happens. The characters are very two dimensional. There is hardly any character development and the character development that you do get is so predictable. I think only have the cast has a name that is said in the movie. For the fans of the video games there is some stuff put in here just for them but nothing worth while. The writing is painfull. People groaned in the theater from some of these horrible lines the characters say. One line I can never forget is spoken by a women who says "When I get out of here I'm going to get laid" this is followed by one of the guys saying "You'll have to get cleaned up first" or something close to that. It isn't funny and seems out of place. The directing is decent but was the nude scene really needed? What is really annoying is the "scares" are cheap and not even scary. In one scene the characters are in a hall and all the rooms around them are filled with water. You get a clear shot of a corpse float and then it just hits the window, I don't see how that is scary. The special effects are horrible. Zombies look really alive since they have only been dead for a few hours but the zombies that are missing parts are laughable and not scary. The zombie dogs look pretty cool but they also look like they are made out of rubber. The acting is really bad. It might have been better if they didn't say such lame lines but I doubt it would have been much better. The music is way too loud and sometimes you can't hear what the characters are saying but the music is pretty good. The sound effects are way off and sound really fake. Half the guns don't even sound like they should. Overall, this is just another game made into a bad movie. What's worse is that a sequel is already in the works. If the writing and acting was better than this movie would be half way decent. If you really want to see this movie, just wait for the DVD release which should be sometime this summer.
