Rev 10:8
And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and
take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and
upon the earth.
John hears that voice again, the one that told him not to write
down what the thunders had said. This time the voice is telling John to go to the angel
with the little book that is open and take the book.
We will look at a few things here. First of all John is not just left on his own to try and
figure out what to do. He is told what to do and what not to do by the voice. The thing
we have to understand by this is that the Father knows we are in the flesh and we don't
know what to do while we are on earth, so he will tell us what to do.
He won't tell us everything all at once, he takes it one step at a time, as it is written in
his Word; Ps 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
As humans we want to know everything right away, the whole picture, but that is not
the way the Father does it. Psalm 119 tells us that The Word of God is a "lamp unto my
feet ", this means that the Word will show us the next step to take and will give us light to
see which way to take that step, but that is all. One step at a time is all the Father wants
us to do. The Word is not a spotlight that shines 200 feet away and we have to be on our
own the whole way. It tells us step by step what to do, if we listen to what it says.
Jesus told us the same thing in a different way, something that is hard for us to do as
American's especially, as it is written; Matt 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the
morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day
is the evil thereof. (Jesus is saying don't worry about tomorrow, because you have enough
to worry about today. The reason is that each day has enough evil in it to keep you trying
to do what God wants instead of what the flesh wants. Get through this day and then
when you get to tomorrow worry about it then.)
Let us look at this verse again "And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me
again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which
standeth upon the sea and upon the earth." John is told whathe needs to get, he is told
where to go to get what he needs, and when to do it. This is an example of how we are
taken care of by the Father. You can read the whole bible and you will not find a place
that the Father told someone to do something for them, and didn't tell them exactly what
to do and what to say and how to do it. The Father is great to us, if only we listen to him
and put our trust in him and not in ourselves.
Revelation 10:9
"And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he
said unto me, Take it,"
So John goes to the angel like he was told to do, but he didn't
do what he was told to do. In heaven things are done the Fathers way, not anyone elses
way. Can you see what John did wrong, before you read on and I tell you?
John was told to go and get the book, he was not told to ask for the book. Do you see
why the angel said what he did? The reason that John was told to take it, is because the
Father is not just going to give us everything on a silver platter, we have to work for it.
There are people that say to themselves, I go to church every Sunday, I put money in
the basket, I love the Lord, I will just live my life and he will do everything for me. If I
do something wrong, he will not mind, because I didn't know I was doing something
wrong. That is not the way the Father works. You have to search out in the Word what
you are doing and see if it right or wrong. Everything that we are to do is written in the
Word. If it is not written in the Word than the Father doesn't want us to do it. Even if
someone has told you," this is what the Father wants you to do." Don't just do what
people tell you, check it out in the Word of God. You are responsible for you, you will
have to answer for what you do.
Just a side note, not everything you do will be a sin, it just might be a waste of your
time, where you could have been doing what the Father told you to do, instead of some
one else. (like having a bake sale, instead of doing a bible study).
Revelation 10:9
" and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as
honey."
John is then told what to do with the book, do you see what
step at a time. Remember this was the book that was sealed in the begining of Revelation.
Jesus opened the book and now it was being given to John to read.
The angel tells John to read the book and as he is reading it, something will happen.
First as he reads it, he will say yes this is good, but as he thinks about what he has read it
makes him grieve with sickness.
Revelation 10:10
And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth
sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
John did what he was suppose to do. He took the book and
consumed it. Like the angel said it was sweet as honey at first, then it made him grieve
with sickness.
There is another place that a servant was told to do the same thing. It is written in
Ezek 3:1 Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll,
and go speak unto the house of Israel.
2 So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with
this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.
4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak
with my words unto them.
Revelation 10:11
And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations,
and tongues, and kings.
Now you understand that John was to read the book and take
it into his mind, so that he could tell others what he had read. Which John did when he
wrote out the book of Revelation. Many Many people have read it.
Like I said in the beginning of chapter 10, the Father has told us what we need and that
is to consume the Word of God and we will have everything we need to overcome Satan
when he is here.
The Father is good to us and he takes care of us and he loves us very much. Tell him
you love him and thank him for all that he does for you. He has so many children and
very, very few tell him they love him and thank him. It really makes his "day", as it would
make yours if your child just came up to you and said, "you know I love you and thank
you for all that you do."
Thank you Father for the wisdom and knowlede and understanding, I love you.
