Subj: Revelation 12:12-15 Date: 98-06-29 06:26:56 EDT From: SERVFATHERRevelation 12:12 Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
This is the warning from those that are in heaven. Satan when he comes down to earth, he will know he only has a certain amount of time, to get as many of God's children to follow him. So he will be putting on a great show, for everyones benifit. Notice this calls Satan the devil. Also notice this is talking about the different people, it includes the people who are from the earth and the people who are from the sea. The "devil" is the accuser.
Revelation 12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
When Satan is thrown to the earth, he will go after spiritual Israel. That has always been his goal, to get anyone that follows Jesus, the Word of God. Notice here Satan is called the dragon. Satan is called the dragon here, because it is spiritual Israel he is also after. Dragon is used when talking about the system he has. He is the Leader of the one world system.
Revelation 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Spiritual Israel will be in the spiritual wilderness to protect her from Satan. Just like The Lord did to flesh Israel when they were running from Egypt. The Lord took care of them during that time and he will take care of his church, during this time. Flesh Israel was just an example to spiritual Israel of what we would be like and also what the Father will be doing for us during that time. Notice here Satan is called the serpent. When he was the serpent he decieved the "woman" in the garden. Eve was symbolic for Israel also. That tells you how Satan will twist the Word of God to try to confuse the church. See the Lord tells us in the book of Exodus, that he is the Eagle that protects his church, as he did flesh Israel. Exod 19:3-5 And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; 4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself. 5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: (The Lord has one rule, and always had, and that rule is to do what he has commanded you to do. The basic rule is to trust him, and listen to what he tells you and everything will be O.K. In the garden Eve didn't trust him, he said do not touch and she touched, because she listen to herself and not the Lord. In the dessert the Lord said I will take care of you, but Israel did it their way. Jesus told us to Trust in the Lord and follow his Word, but the church does it their way. They take the parts of the Word they want to listen to and the other "is not needed." There is nothing new under the Sun.)
Revelation 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
The flood that comes out of Satan's mouth is his lies. He will be telling so many lies and twisting everything that is the truth, that the people will be carried away by him. His purpose is to seduce the church, because the Lord loves them. The Lord knows that Satan is going to be very convincing, so he shortened the time Satan has on earth, to protect his servants, as it is written in Matthew. Matt 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. (The time is shorten for the elect's sake.) 25 Behold, I have told you before.(Jesus also tells us he told us everything we need to know) 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. (What is the biggest lie going to be? It will be Satan saying he is Jesus returned. Jesus tells us, if it really was Jesus returning, no one would have to tell you, you would know it. So if someone says to you that Jesus has returned you will know not to listen to them.) Matt 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. (when Jesus returns everyone will see him and those that are not his elect, will be sorry.) 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (When Jesus returns, he will send his angels to gather his elect from heaven and earth.) Mark 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. ( Satan will be doing great things, when he comes and very convincing too.) 23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things. (Jesus says, but watch out because I told you everything that was going to happen before it happened so that you would be prepared for it.) Who is the elect? It is not flesh Israel, it is the church, the true christians, not those that just say they are christians. II Jn 1:1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; (John mentions one person that is elect that lived in his time.) Satan will be so convincing that God had to shorten the time, he had given to Satan to be in control on earth. In verse :15 Satan is called the serpent, in the next verse he is called the dragon again. The whole point throughout this chapter was to tell you this is all the same person. It does not matter what you call him, he is doing it all, and he plays different roles, for different reasons. It depends on who it is talking about and what he is doing. This is not just true about Satan. Jesus also has many names and roles that he plays. The Lord also has many names. The names are just a description of what the Lord is talking about.
