( Then we are told not only the name but also that it is called "that great city." Remember in the bible there is a lot of symbolism.)
(The reason that "the great city of confusion" is fallen, is because it was the system of the world and it made all the people do things against God and for Satan.)
Let us take a look at places "that great city" is used so we can understand and see the whole picture.
Rev 17:3
3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
(Does seven heads and ten horns sound familiar? It should, it describes the one world system. The father is good to us, because he shows us many different views of this system.
Rev 12:3
3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
(This tells us Satan controls the world system)
Rev 13:1
1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
(This tells us that this system is also called a beast and that it is made up of the people. It also tells us that this system is pure blasphemy against the Lord.)
Dan 7:19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.
(This tells us that it will be the most powerful world system. There has never been a world system that controls the whole world. It also tells us that it will be very powerful and nothing will be able to hide from it.)
