Revelation 2:6

BUT THIS THOU HAST, THAT THOU HATEST THE DEEDS OF THE NICOLAITANES, WHICH I ALSO HATE.

There is nothing written about these Nicolaitanes in world history. We do not know who they are, but we do know God hates them.

Revelation 2:7

HE THAT HATH AN EAR, LET HIM HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT SAITH UNTO THE CHURCHES;

Jesus always said this when there was a deep spiritual meaning to what he was saying. It means that only people with their eyes spiritually open, could understand the deep meaning of these things.

Jesus mentioned this verse many times when he was here in the flesh and many times when he was talking to John in Revelation.

This is a great side study, because each time this phrase is mentioned is another key that will unlock the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, that not everyone can understand.

I will give you an example; Matthew 13:1-9 Jesus tells a parable about a sower. This parable is about something we do in the flesh. The Lord always uses examples of things that we can understand in the flesh.

This parable is about someone who wants to plant seeds to grow something. When you "sow" it means to scatter alot of seeds at the same time, not to plant one seed at a time.

When a farmer plants seeds this way one of four things will happen. The first thing that could happen to the seed is that it will fall by the wayside. This means that the seed will fall on hard sunbaked ground. These seeds can not penetrate the ground, so they stay on top of the ground. Then the birds will come by and eat those seeds. Those seeds don't have a chance of growing.

The second thing that could happen is the seeds would fall on a stony place, where they don't have much earth; and dght away they spring up, because they have no foundation of earth. But when the sun comes up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. The roots of a plant is where it gets it's nourishment. If there is no place for the root to grow, the plant will not be strong enough to get the water to withstand the suns rays.

The third thing that could happen is the seeds could fall among the thorns; and the thoms sprung up and choke them.

The forth thing that could happen is the seeds fall on good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundred, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. This is what seeds are suppose to do. You plant them to get fruit to produce more and more.

Do you think Jesus told us this so we could have a lesson in planting seeds?

This is a mystery, he is teaching us spiritually. In Matthew 13:9 he says "who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
