Have you ever wondered what is going to happen to Satan? Well, when Jesus returns he will be taken care of. Let us study what happens after Jesus returns to earth and we are also going to find out how many different roles Satan played on earth.
Rev 20:1
1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
When Jesus returns the world will know Satan is a fake, and there will be an angel that has the ability to put someone in the lowest state they can be and the ability to keep them there.
Revelation 20:2
And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
This angel will take hold of the enemy of God, who has been the dragon that took over the world that was, and deceived God's sons to follow him. Then he was the old serpent who deceived Eve to partake of the "fruit" and die, then Eve got Adam to partake and die. Who is also know as the Devil and Satan, who is the accuser of God's people.
As you can see Satan has always been trying to destroy God's children, since he fell from the altar of God, as it is written.
The angel made so that Satan does not have the ability to do anything for a thousand years.
Now why would God only stop Satan for a thousand years? Why not stop him forever right then? Let us find out in the next verse.
Revelation 20:3
And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Satan was cast down by the angel to the lowest state of being, and closed him in, so he could not send out his spirit throughout the world to deceive people, while Jesus and his saints were teaching the world during the thousand years.
Then when the thousand years were over, Satan would be let out of his prison for a little while.
What the Lord did was make sure the final test of his children, would not be interfered with by Satan. Because once and for all at the final test those that did not choose the Lord would perish in the lake of Fire.
Revelation 20:4
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Now the next thing we are shown, is what Jesus and his saints will be doing.
There will be thrones set up and the saints will have the ability to judge.
The saints that will be included is not every single person that lived and died as a Christian, but those that did special work for the Lord.
There will be Christians who will have been beheaded, because they told about Jesus, and about the truth about the Word of God.
Then there will be the others that are already on earth and went through the tribulation of Antichrist, but never believed him or followed him or did his work.
They all lived and reigned with the anointed during the thousand years.
Revelation 20:5
But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
This says those that were spiritually dead, when Jesus returns, did not receive an immortal soul, till the thousand years were over. To the Lord they were "dead" and they will stay that way until the final test.
This is called the first resurrection, which happens right when Jesus returns.
This is very important to understand, so let us go into the Word and find out what else the Lord tells us about this event and time.
1 Cor 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
Paul says listen to this mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. Sleep means die in this place. So Paul is saying we shall not all die, but we will all be transformed.
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Paul tells us how long it will take, it will happen to everyone instantly, at the seventh trump, which is when the true Jesus returns.
When the seventh trump sounds all flesh bodies will go into spiritual bodies, and all will be changed, not just the Christians.
Then Paul explains why this is also going to happen to the people who are not Christians also.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
There is two steps to eternal life, our body must be put in spiritual bodies, and the second thing is that right now we are all mortal, which means our souls can perish or be totally destroyed, but if we partake of the resurrection, then we also get an immortal soul.
Those that are not Christian, will be put in spiritual bodies, but they will not receive immortal souls.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
When both things have happen, that is when we will have victory over death.
Did you know that the body and soul was going to die in the lake of fire?
Matt 10:28
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Luke 12:5
5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
