Rev 4:7
7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

The first living creature resembled a lion which protects the east. The second living creature resembled a calf which protects the west. the third living creature has the face of a man which protects the south. The fourth living creature resembled a flying eagle which protects the north.

This is the same thing as what the Lord wrote in the old testament.

Num 2:2 Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father's house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.
3 And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah.

Num 2:10 On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies: and the captain of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur.

Num 2:18 On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their armies: and the captain of the sons of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud.

Num 2:25 The standard of the camp of Dan shall be on the north side by their armies: and the captain of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

Ezek 1:10
10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

These four things are the four dominate ones of their kind. The dominate wild animal is a lion. The dominate domestic animal is a cow. The dominate fowl of the earth is the eagle. The dominate of humans is man. Everything is done for a purpose in the Word of God. Simply stated these four living creatures encompass everything thing on flesh earth.

Satan will use this as his system also as it is written about the four beast in the book of Daniel and in the book of Revelation. This is also mentioned in the book of Esdras.
