Let us review about what we are seeing and what is happening. This is very important to do because if you don't you can misunderstand something and then the book of Revelation will be confusing.

John is in prison on earth and he has been brought to heaven in his spiritual body. Now the angel tells him that he is going to be shown things that will happen in the future(Rev chapter 4).

Then John looks around because he had been instructed in the beginning to write everything down he had seen to tell the servants of the Lord who would be living in the end times. Now John is going to explain what else he saw on the throne.

Rev 5:1
1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.

John looked at the Father who was sitting on the throne and in His hand was a book. This book was packed full of knowledge, but it was closed and secret because of seven seals. It is not yet time for anyone to read it and understand. It is protected by spiritual perfection which is the number seven, in order to find out what is written you have to be able to open the seals.

In Isaiah the Lord tells us a little more about why he has done this with the book and the knowledge.

Isa 29:10 For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.

The Lord has closed the spiritual eyes of everyone, so they can not understand.

11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:

A person that should know about this book is asked to read it, but he says I can't because it is closed.

12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.

Then he goes to another man who supposedly knows about these things and he asks him to read it, he says I can't because I don't know what it says.

13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

The Father is telling us the reason there is no one that can explain the Word is because they call themselves Christians, but they do not act like Christians nor do they mean anything they say.

They don't care about the Father or what he wants they only want to listen to their traditions, their religions, their churches. The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord as it is written. They are not taught to fear the Lord, when they go to church everything is "sugar coated" peace, love, joy, which is only part of the message.

Human being need to fear the Lord in order to do what he wants in their Christian walk and life.

Rev 5:2
And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?

Now while John was still looking at the book he saw a strong angel with a great voice saying, Is there anyone who deserves to open the book and losen the seals by the Authority of God?

Rev5:3
And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.

And there was not a man in heaven, on earth, nor under the earth who could open the book not even to see the book.

This is telling us that as humans we can not do anything on our own, we have to have help. Any Christian that thinks they know it all, or have everything they need is wrong. There is none good, no not one without Jesus Christ.
