Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

Now you will notice the fifth seal is talking about heaven and the ones who have died for the word of God and because they told people about Jesus. These are all the people who have ever died from the time Jesus was on earth. Have you ever wondered what happens when you die? Well here is a little insight into heaven and what happens after death.

Revelation 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

As you can see, when you die you do not stay asleep in the ground. These people are up at the altar in heaven and they are crying out for vengence, just like Able did in Genesis. Just a side note the number five in the word means "grace" all of these souls were under grace now.

Revelation 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them;

These souls in heaven are given pure clothing. They have been washed clean, by the blood of Jesus. Remember you have to think spiritually. The clothing you wear in heaven has to do with your spiritual man not your appearance. If you read Rev 1:13 "And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot...". You will notice Jesus garment totally covered him. Some of the other souls in heaven have white garments, it doesn't mention how big they are. The other thing you should notice is that, not everyone gets there "white garments" at the same time. There are still people on earth working for God and they don't have their "white garments" yet.

Revelation 6:11

" and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they [were], should be fulfilled."

We know this is talking about the two witnesses mentioned in Rev 11:7-8 7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal,

The sixth seal is talking about earth again. Six in the word means "man or Satan", so this seal concerns man.

Rev 6:12 and, lo, there was a great earthquake;

Now this word earthquake is used in the word a few times. It is not always an actual earth quake. The word is also used as "tempest", it means "a commotion". I have also included what it means figuratively according to the strongs concordance.

4579 seio (si'-o); figuratively, to throw into a tremor (of fear or concern): As you will see what the sixth seal will show you, when this happens the world will be full of commotion and turmoil and there will be alot of shaking of the the world powers. The earth will be shook up by the Antichrist. Because he will take control of the world. I also want to let you read where the word is used as a "tempest" instead of an earthquake.

Matt 8:24 24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. Revelation 6:12 and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

The sun stands for light. What this is saying is that at that time the world will be in spiritual darkness. The moon is of the night, so this is saying that the lesser light will be in control. In other words, Jesus is the sun and Satan is the moon. This is mentioned in other places in the Word. Read it and get a clearer picture of what will be going on during this time. Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. Acts 2:19-20 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come.
