U.S. Virgin Islands

There are many ways to hunt for treasure in St. Thomas.  You can discover its historic wealth in such places as the birthplace of painter Camille Pissarro or the infamous Bluebeard's Tower.  Its sporting riches are tennis, golf, sailing and incredible beaches.  Beneath its crystal-clear waters, you'll find coral gardens and shimmering schools of jewel-colored fish.  Its fortune of earthly treasures can be found in the many shops of Charlotte Amalie, where savings on jewels, crystal, perfume and fine wines will arouse your hunting instincts.
St Maarten
St. Maarten is one of the most rewarding stops for a cruise-ship passenger--the island is divided between French St. Martin in the north and Dutch St. Maarten in the south. Although the cultural flow transcends any borders, each side manages to retain its own distinct flavor. This 37-square-mile island promises beautiful vistas, first-rate water sports and stunning beaches. Most ships dock in Philipsburg, the capital of Dutch St. Maarten. Its two main streets, Frontstreet and Backstreet, are bustling thoroughfares lined with shops and restaurants. In Marigot, the capital of French St. Martin, you’ll find haute cuisine, chic bistros, fashionable boutiques and perfume shops.
Dominica
It's true!  Dominica in the West Indies has 365 rivers that cascade down the island's three mountain ranges.  One of those rivers will lead you to the Emerald Pool Grotto in the heart of the rain forest.  Shop in Roseau, the capital city, before stopping at Morne Bruce for a panoramic view of the city.   Travel through the Botanic Gardens where a 15 minute walk will bring you to a secluded waterfall with its crystal clear natural fresh water pool.  You may want to take a dip in the chilly water or just enjoy the view.  Dive the fascinating granite reef called "Champagne," known for its bubbles produced by a hot fresh water geothermal vent.

Martinique
The charming and very French island of Martinique offers the serenity of secluded beaches and uncrowded dive sights.  There's excellent shopping and sightseeing in the historic port capital, Fort-de-France.  Travel up the coast past fishing villages, including one where Columbus landed. Visit St. Pierre and the ruins of the city that was destroyed when Mt. Pelee exploded in 1906.

Barbados

Experience the very British isle of Barbados as you visit Tyrol Cot Heritage Village, a living museum and chattel house village and market. Tour Gun Hill, a restored signal station, and St. John's Church, rebuilt in 1836, 800' above sea level on the edge of a cliff overlooking Bathsheba and the picturesque east coast.  Stop in Bridgetown or Pelican Village for excellent duty-free shopping.   In Barbados, High Tea is one of the many British traditions.  Cricket is another.  The subterranean stream passages of Harrison's Cave are among the island's many attractions.
