The Warrior's state of mind

The warrior in his superior stance
Prepared, he waits, ready to advance,
His opponent - not stronger - nor weak
Just an opponent - so to speak.

Calm like the new break of the day
No sound takes his concentrated way,
No thought steals the silence of his space,
Restful - he shows no tension in his face.

Body light with a knowledge of fact
Trust in his skill is the guide to his act,
His direction is definite and straight
He must live, death is not in his fate.

He teaches
The Art of Excellence

He knows his students, he builds their skill,
With him they gain an iron will.

They will have the force, they will have the speed,
They will have the power in times of great need.

They train in the morning, they train at night,
They will not stop, until they get it right.

He is the Sensei, he shows them the way,
He shows them the value, that's why they stay.

He got the knowledge, he touches their heart,
He awakes in them, the love of the art.

The body moves with a sharp-pointed mind,
Deep in their heart, a commitment is signed.

With the shout of kiai, a spirit is set free,
This moment of strength, will give them the key.

The students learn a martial art of defence,
From the master they learn, the art of excellence.
