Aruba

Palm Beach, Aruba

This is Palm Beach, one of the beautiful beaches on Aruba. It's on the western side of the island quite far north.  These beaches all have sugar-white sand, and certain private beaches such as the one on Sonesta Island (just south of Oranjestad) are a bit more relaxed on the dress code.

Aruban Burrowing Owl

The Arikok National Park, which includes 18% of the island's area,  is comprised of 3 different geological areas; limestone, lava  and quartz diorite formations.

Together these create unique conditions that support several indigeneous species of reptile and mammal including the "cascabel"  (Aruban island rattlesnake) and the Aruban burrowing owl.

The park is on the east coast south of the natural bridge and pool.

Check out the Arikok National Park page

Check out the Aruba-Info.com link too, it has a much more detailed map and some good pics.

This is a natural bridge formation that exists on the east coast of Aruba about half way down the coast.  It is an old reef that has been carved away by centuries of wave action.

The bridge dimentions are 25' by 100'.
