Face Back Spring Cover

This is the final design of the Waterbury “Series A” rotary long-wind skeleton watch. A few other variations of this watch exist, with the most desirable being in colored celluloid cases, or with three or four spoke dials – note that this one has six. Notice that the skeletonized pattern of the plates has been changed to a much fancier pattern than that used by Benedict and Burnham. Two examples of dust covers are present, one marked “Series A” and the other plain – I believe that the plain dust covers are earlier. This watch is an 18’s with a 6’s movement, and no jewels. It originally sold for $3.50 and was discontinued around1881. Today it is a very rare and desirable model.
