Gallery \ Watches \ "Series B" The Waterbury Watch Co. introduced this watch in 1881, probably so as to cut production costs by not having to skeletonize the plates. Note that the paper dial on this example has aged, and was originally white. Mechanically it is like all the long-winds in that it has the same gear train and an un-jeweled 6’s movement housed in an 18’s case which had patent dates marked on the crown. The movement is made of aluminum, instead of brass. All later long-winds have aluminum movements. The original retail was probably $2.50 to $3.50. The watch was discontinued around 1883. This watch is very rare today. |
